Azalea Forrest Starts a New Blog!

Updated: Feb 13, 2020

Hi everybody,

I'm Azalea Forrest and welcome to my blog, A Forrest Writes!

I'll be posting tips & tricks about writing, what I've been working on, the first chapters of my published works, and anything else that I hope will inspire, entertain, and help you in your journey as word-ly aficionados.

Serious blogging is new to me. I've kept journals, sure, and I suppose I can consider my social media to be micro-blogging, so we'll see how this all turns out in the months to come. :) I'm excited to start this new journey with you all. Feel free to share, comment, and interact with my posts, and even subscribe to my mailing list to get updates whenever I put up a new post!

A little bit about me: I started creatively writing back in 2001. It started with RP -- that is, roleplay -- and then fanfiction, and finally I started on original works, which is when I started to write seriously in 2017. I'd never finished anything more than a short story until I wrote Witch in the Lighthouse (2018), and I'll admit it made me incredibly proud to finish a complete story. (Link below!)

Writing WIL at all started with being inspired by a friend, a fellow writer, and their works, and their encouragement. I could finish a story, I could write a book. All I had to do was sit down and focus, and get organized, no matter what thoughts came up to try and stop me. I know, I know--it's not that easy. For a novella, it still took me six months to write the first draft of WIL, and then another six months to edit it to my liking. Thankfully Magnolia, the protagonist of the story, continued (and continues) to inspire me to work hard and believe in myself, and that's kind of what the whole book is about. I had a goal and I kept to it, no matter how long it was going to take.

Well, that's all for now. Thank you for taking the time to read and visit, and I hope 2020 will be your year!

Hey everybody. I've got some news! Last year, I decided I'd try my hand at using Wordpress, which has a bigger community to help facilitate a wider readership. I've had twice as many visitors to my Wo
